Dear Families,
Mistakes show that learning is happening. This week, students have been discussing how we don’t always get things right the first time, and that is okay. Everyone, even adults, make mistakes. We try to do the right thing, but even when we are doing our best, we make some mistakes. When we get something wrong, the best thing we can do is practice. The more we practice, the better we get.
Book Options:
Caramba by Marie-Louise Gay
Beatrice Doesn’t Want To by Laura Numeroff
Always in Trouble by Corrine Demas
The Very Ugly Bug by Liz Pichon
Between pretending to be Mickie and Minnie Mouse, or Tacky Tourists, we sure had a great time celebrating Oakridge Homecoming and Spirit Week. On Thursday, the Middle School Cheerleaders came down to the ECC to spread Homecoming cheer and performed a mini Pep Rally. It was so fun to have a group of former ECC students visit us, and we loved seeing how much they have grown into capable, confident teenagers!
NEXT WEEK - St. Jude Trike-A-Thon Week
Thursday, October 9 - St. Jude Trike-A-Thon
The St. Jude Trike-A-Thon is a fun and educational way to teach young children how to make a difference for St. Jude kids. St. Jude provides materials for a week of learning and fun activities for young children, teaching children about trike and riding safety. Throughout the week of October 6, ECC students learn important lessons about helping others by raising awareness and support for children battling cancer and other life-threatening diseases at St. Jude. If you wish to support St. Jude during this week, you can make a donation by clicking here.
On October 9, each ECC student is asked to:
- Bring a helmet to school with his/her name on it
- Bring a riding toy (scooter, tricycle, bicycle) -If your child does not have one, please contact Mrs. McGee
- Wear non-uniform athletic clothes and tennis shoes
We will culminate our week-long St. Jude Trike-A-Thon lessons by putting our safety skills to the test. Parents are invited to join us as we travel around the ECC parking lot. We are also seeking volunteers so please click here. See flyer below for more details.

We’re proud of our wonderful Oakridge community—help us share it!
If you know friends, neighbors, or colleagues exploring school options, invite them to discover Oakridge through our Admission Events. Your recommendation is the best introduction!
Our first event, Oakridge-Live! Early Childhood Center Edition is Thursday, October 16, 2025, from 9:00–11:00 AM.

Warm regards,
Ashley Read, Oakridge Class of 2005
