Dear Families,

This week, our students have been exploring the various ways we use our time. We've focused on the importance of prioritizing tasks, emphasizing the rule: “First, needs… then, wants.” We've been discussing that while we enjoy many activities at school, it's essential to complete necessary tasks before moving on to preferred ones. The core message is that it's our responsibility to remain focused and manage our time effectively.

Book Options:

  • The Very Lazy Ladybug by Jack Tickle
  • See You Later, Alligator by Annie Kubler
  • Lazy Ozzie by Michael Coleman
  • A Frog Thing by Eric Drachman

Cooler Weather Dress Code: Now that the cooler weather has descended, here are a few reminders about our ECC Dress Code:

  • Collared uniform shirts are required Monday-Friday, even under outerwear such as sweatshirts.
  • Tights or leggings may be worn under skirts, but must be solid navy blue, black, or white (opaque or cable- not sheer).
  • All outerwear must be purchased from the school’s approved uniform vendor, FlynnO’Hara, or the Owl’s Landing Spirit Store. (sweatshirts, fleece zip up, sweaters, sweater vests, etc). Only school approved outerwear may be worn in the building. When students are outdoors, they are welcome and encouraged to bring non-uniform jackets, scarves, hats or gloves (don’t forget to label them).

Uniform expectations can be found on the parent portal in the Parent Handbook on pages 11 - 12.

Friday, November 21 - Grandparents’ and Grandfriends’ Day: During this annual event, students look forward to showing their grandparents and grandfriends around the ECC. The morning is spent building memories, visiting a replica of the Mayflower, and we even have a petting zoo out front of the ECC. Below are the ECC-specific details for the day:

  • 8:30 a.m. - Welcome, registration, and refreshments in the Student Activity Center (SAC) on main campus
  • 9:15 a.m. - Program in the Fine Arts Performance Hall (FAPH) on main campus (Lower School students will perform)
  • 10:00 a.m. - ECC grandparents are invited to shuttle down to the ECC and visit the petting zoo, specialist classes, or the photo booth.
  • 10:30 - 11:30 a.m. - Grandparents will visit their grandchild’s classroom and take part in different activities.
  • 11:30 a.m. - Dismissal - Students and grandparents are welcome to leave at any time.
  • Students are to wear their school uniforms to school.
  • Complimentary valet parking will be available. Grandparents can either park at the ECC and shuttle to main campus, or park on main campus and shuttle down to the ECC. Faculty, staff and student ambassadors will be stationed throughout the campus all morning to assist grandparents with getting from location to location.
  • If your child’s grandparents will be visiting students in the ECC as well as the Lower School, we encourage them to visit Lower School classrooms from about 10:00 - 10:45 a.m. and ECC classrooms from about 10:45 - 11:30 a.m. However, please note that the day is flexible.

*If your child will be staying for Owls’ Nest on November 21, please contact mdesjardins@oakridgesch.org and send a lunch. The cost for Owls’ Nest for the afternoon will be $45.

Warm regards,

Ashley Read, Oakridge Class of 2005
