Dr. Sarah Schecter, Head of Lower School

November 21, 2025

Dear Lower School Parents,

Grandparents’ and Grandfriends’ Day is always one of my favorite days. It is such a joy to see all of our guests, hear all of the laughter and share our school with these dear friends. Our grandparents and friends are encouraging and full of fun. What a blessing it is to have so many supportive people who love our students on campus for this special day!

Our librarian, Mrs. DeWinter, wants to encourage our families to use the library to encourage students on their literacy journey. This wonderful space is open on school days from 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and children are welcome to visit with a parent or guardian.

Here are some additional ways to support your child's literacy and learning:

  • Customized Book Bags: Mrs. DeWinter can create personalized book bags for your family. These bags are carefully curated based on your interests and reading needs, offering a convenient way to discover new books.
  • Reader's Advisory Sessions: We invite you to schedule a one-on-one session with Mrs. DeWinter to find the perfect reading material for your child. These sessions are helpful whether your reader is:
    • Just beginning their reading journey,
    • A devoted bibliophile in need of new literary adventures, or
    • Struggling to find books that are "just right" for their level and interests.

To schedule a Reader’s Advisory session or request a customized book bag, please email Mrs. DeWinter directly at pdewinter@oakridgesch.org. Mrs. DeWinter looks forward to working with you.

Happy Thanksgiving! I hope you all have a wonderful week of feasting and family time.

Blessings to you and yours,

Sarah Schecter
Head of Lower School
