Dear Lower School Parents,

Last Saturday was so much fun. Many of us watched the Varsity Girls Volleyball team win the championship in Houston, even if it was from the comfort of our own homes. Next, a huge crowd gathered at J. Gilligan’s to have a pregame party for our football team. There were well over 100 Oakridge fans filling the outside patio and a couple of rooms inside the Oakridge-parent-owned restaurant. Current families, old Oakridge families, and alumni all gathered together. It was like a family reunion, with so many hugs, shared memories, and excitement. Finally, we went to UTA’s Maverick Stadium and watched the game. It was perfect football weather and an edge-of-your-seat game. Oakridge students of all ages, parents and grandparents, faculty and staff attended the game and cheered our team to victory. It was a sweet and memorable evening for all of us!

Grandparents’ Day is next Friday, November 21. It is a big day of celebration in Lower School! Each class has activities planned for this special day. We hope every student will have at least one grandparent or grandfriend in attendance. The day begins with grandparents having coffee and a light breakfast in the SAC at 8:30. Next, Lower School grandparents attend a program in the Fine Arts Performance Hall followed by a visit to their grandchildren’s classrooms. The children will then lead their guests on a tour of favorite campus spots or take photos in the library. School will dismiss early at 11:30. While grandparents are welcome to come and go throughout the event, please let your child’s teacher know who will attend and what your plans are for dismissal.

Our Thankful list is quite long. We have named over 100 things for which we are grateful! It is uplifting to read the list and think of all the blessings we enjoy, including things like air conditioning, bees, the solar system and jalapeños.

Happy Fall!
