Dear Families,

Over the past several weeks, students have been practicing for their Fall Showcases and boy were they adorable! We are so grateful for all of the hard-work and dedication that Coach C and Coach T poured into our students to prepare for the shows. It was the perfect week to be reminded that “the more we practice, the better we get.” Sometimes, when we try new things, we don’t get it right the first time and that’s okay. Mistakes are how we learn and get better at something.

1st Wednesday Chat: On Wednesday, November 5, we hosted our monthly 1st Wednesday Chat, where we discussed important upcoming ECC events and explored Executive Function Skills. As The Center on the Developing Child at Harvard University shared, “Executive function skills help us remember the information we need to complete a task, filter distractions, resist inappropriate or non-productive impulses, and sustain attention during a particular activity.” Imaginary play, field trips, props in dramatic play, and storytelling are all ways to build executive function skills.  Click here to learn more about activities that help build these skills.

Football Championship Game: On Saturday, November 8, the Oakridge Owls will take on the Fort Worth Country Day Falcons in the SPC Championship Football Game. The game will be played at UTA Maverick Stadium at 7:30 p.m. We hope you and your families can join us!

Warm regards,

Ashley Read, Oakridge Class of 2005
